The importance of having a good drainage system to the residents of any city cannot really be overstated. This is why the city councils and other concerned authorities have as an integral part of their duties, to provide an effective, efficient and reliable drainage system to its residents. Any councils that fail to do so are indeed doing a great disservice to the residents since the residents pay a lot of money in form of taxes and rates and this is money that they ideally expect should be used by the authorities to put up good drainage systems for them.
The main question that is now left to be answered here, especially in light of the foregoing discussion is; why is a good drainage system necessary? In order to successfully answer this question, one must first embark on a short journey to find out some of the most common drainage systems, and why the drainage systems are very important. For starters, every building must have its own drainage system. This is simply an elaborate channel that is intended to let out dirty water and other liquid waters that are produced by the people in the building. Once such waste is out of the building, the next big question that springs to mind is how to further take care of this waste since it cannot just be left lying on the street. Installing the drainage systems in the buildings is the work of the owners of the buildings through their contractors. On the other hand, getting the dirty water and liquid wastes safely off the streets is the work of the authorities such as the city councils. They must put up an elaborate system of drainage that will channel all the wastes to some safe place hat has been set aside precisely for that particular purpose.
